Biographical History Emma and her husband, George were active in the African American Elks lodge in Cedar Rapids. They traveled all over the country attending Elks events. George and Emma married in 1940. Emma was active in the daughters of the I.B.P.O.E. and the Colored Women's Clubs. They were both active in Bethel A.M.E. Church in Cedar Rapids and in the Progressive Party of Iowa. They had no children.
